Make more Bread

It’s been almost 2 months since I got the news that my job will be made redundant by end of the year. So what have I been up to?

Literally trying to make more bread. I discovered ratios in making bread. Once you know the ratio, you probably can make any bread. You don’t have to have to follow recipe to tee. Just recipe as a rough guide. It has been quite therapeutic and yummmy!

I have been thinking about what’s next after my layoff. I thought about blogging or even maybe try making Financial YouTube content.

Ultimately, it boils down to, what is my end goal. I thought about it long and hard. I’m still not there with my FI numbers so my goal is to make more bread (money).

Can I make more money blogging or making Youtube content? When I look at the SG Finfluencers on Youtube, it’s just seem like another form of work where they are trading time to make content to make money.

If I’m going to trade my time for money, it makes sense to stick to what I’m good at because I can earn more doing that. And with that, I have decided to start looking for another job in Tech.

I started sending out resume a couple weeks ago. Heard back from a couple of companies. And I have to say, the number of interviews you have to go through for a role is just crazy. I don’t know if it’s just the Tech industry or if it’s the same across all. It’s not like I’m interviewing to be the CEO of the company, or if the work I do is going to cure cancer.

So wish me luck in all this craziness.

  1. I know how it feels. It’s pretty much the norm or they are trying to make it a norm to go through rounds of interviews for a non-management position. I went through it when I applied for a job in a non-tech industry. I nearly gave up towards the end as it was tiring to act enthusiastic when repeating the same answers to more or less similar questions from 5 different interviewers in 5 rounds of interviews.
