July 2023 Portfolio Update

It’s time for the half a year portfolio review. I love doing reviews on a green week.

And what a difference 6 months made. You can check out my previous update here.

There are basically 3 components to my portfolio.

Income Portfolio

I went crazy with the income portfolio these past 6 months. I bought a lot of bank stocks. So much so that it is now almost half of Income Portfolio.

Growth Portfolio

I also went crazy with the Growth Portfolio, but the other way round. I wanted to consolidate all my broad based index ETFs into 1 ETF, so I sold some, but I couldn’t buy back in time, and I’m sidelined with cash.

I also fumbled with my huge bag of $COIN. I actually bought a lot of $COIN when was in the $40s and $50s, but I sold most of it because of SEC suing Coinbase just to breakeven. And look where $COIN is now.

What I’ve learned is, sometime doing less is more. And don’t read financial news all the time.

Crypto Portfolio

I experience my first 10x on a meme coin. But then it wasn’t life changing amount. Made about 1 ETH worth. And this is going to my crypto portfolio.

Most of my crypto are sitting in $wstETH, and a small bag of $LDO, and not forgetting my locked $veCRVE.

Overall Portfolio

This how my current allocation looks. I am still sidelined with a lot of cash (excluding emergency cash).

I think my portfolio did horrible. As someone who has been investing for the past 10 years, I panicked sold and got sidelined with cash.

I’m not sure if it is to do with age, the last time I experienced a market crash, I went all in with no cash left (aside from emergency funds). But this time round, I just kept thinking, it is going to go lower. I was very hesitant to go all in.

It could also be because of what I have experienced with crypto, a coin going -90%, I was half expecting that from SPY. My expectation was so skewed this time round.

Anyway, until next time.
