If you’ve been browsing through some of my older blog posts recently, you might have noticed something strange.
Most of the images are missing.
No, it’s not your browser. And no, I didn’t intentionally remove them.
I recently decided to migrate my blog to a new hosting provider, hoping for a smoother experience and a fresh start.
The migration itself seemed to go fine.
My posts were still there. The words, the stories, the content I’d spent time writing are all intact.
But then I started looking through my older articles.
I realised something was wrong.
The images were gone.
All those screenshots, charts, and pictures I’d added over time were no longer showing up.
Not exactly what I had in mind when I decided to move hosts!
The Not So Fun Side of Running Your Own Blog
One thing I’ve learned about running a personal blog is that there’s always something technical to deal with.
You think you’re just going to write about investing, personal finance, or whatever is happening in your life.
Then suddenly, you’re troubleshooting hosting issues, broken image links, and wondering where all your uploaded files went.
I had hoped the migration would be relatively painless.
Clearly, that was a little optimistic.
The good news is that the actual blog posts are still there.
The bad news is that some of them don’t make much sense without their images, especially the ones where I shared portfolio screenshots or investment charts.
And with quite a few older posts, going back and fixing everything individually isn’t exactly how I wanted to spend my time.
Am I Going to Restore Everything?
I’m going to try to fix what I can, especially the posts where the images are important for understanding the content.
But I’m also being realistic.
Some older posts may remain without images for a while.
Rather than spending all my time trying to make every old article perfect again, I’d prefer to keep writing and sharing new content.
After all, the main reason I started this blog was to document my personal finance journey, share what I’ve learned from investing, and write about life along the way.
Not to spend endless hours fixing website problems.
A Fresh Start, Sort Of
In a way, the timing isn’t too bad.
I’m entering a different chapter of life myself, having recently left my job and started exploring what life looks like without a regular paycheck.
I’m also putting more time into documenting my investment income journey and my goal of generating USD 10,000 a month from my portfolio.
So perhaps the blog migration is just another small part of that fresh start.
A slightly messy one, admittedly.
For now, if you’re reading an older article and come across a missing image, that’s why.
The content is still there, and I’ll gradually fix the important ones where I can.
Thanks for bearing with the occasional broken image.
And hopefully, my next blog update will be about something a little more interesting than website hosting!
