A simple spreadsheet for tracking dividend and option income

Since leaving my tech job in September 2026, I’ve lived off dividends, covered-call ETFs and selling options. Keeping track of it all was the bit that kept slipping, so I built a spreadsheet to do it for me. It’s free, and I’d like you to have a copy.

You type in what you receive and what you trade. The spreadsheet adds it up month by month.

What’s inside

  • Holdings: list what you own, and see the dividends and option results for each ticker.
  • Dividends: one row per payment, with withholding tax worked out for you (you can overtype it with your broker’s real figure).
  • Options: one row per trade, marked Open or Closed, with net result after fees, days held and annualised return on collateral.
  • Monthly Summary: January to December totals, a running total, progress towards your own monthly goal, and a simple chart.
  • Settings: your year, your monthly goal and your tax rate. The 30% rate is only a starting point, so please change it to yours.
  • Start Here: plain instructions and a colour key (yellow = type here, grey = automatic).
  • Works in Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice. All amounts are in USD.

The sample rows are example data, so you can see how it works. Please delete them before you add your own (the file shows you how).

I’ll use your email address to send you the spreadsheet and the occasional note from me. You can unsubscribe at any time. Privacy policy

This is not financial advice. The tracker is for education and record-keeping only, and it doesn’t tell you what to buy or sell. Past results don’t predict future ones. Please check your own tax rate.
